About
East Atlanta-based producer Easy Listening Section crafts sophisticated, sample-based soundscapes for the discerning listener.
A hip-hop purist since ’93 and an unapologetic loop lover, his music blends the dust of classic vinyl with the smooth allure of a dimly lit lounge. Heavily influenced by the laid-back, cinematic luxury of Curren$y and operating as a proud member of the Sidechain Society, Easy Listening Section delivers sophistication simplified, but never compromised.

The world
“Less is more”
True to a Capricorn’s nature, Easy Listening Section’s works reflect a study of restraint, rhythm, and timeless style. Grounded in hip-hop yet shaped by a lifetime of listening across every era, the music is built for the discerning ear—rich textures, clean lines, and a quiet space to lose yourself. Created purely for the love of the art form; accolades are welcome, but the craft is the destination.

How the beats get made
My production style is not influenced by rigid formulas, “Type Beats,” or premeditated blueprints. There is no plan, only feeling. Each track serves as a sonic snapshot of a specific moment, which is why every beat is named simply by the date of its creation.
The tools
- Maschine
- My central workstation for over a decade. It serves as both the definitive DAW and the final checkpoint for every arrangement.
- Samples
- Obscure vinyl, forgotten digital archives, and distinct soundscapes unearthed while traversing the road less traveled.
- Serato DJ
- Utilized to fluidly parse through and match vocal layers.
- Roland SP-404MKII
- My go-to for texture, warmth, and organic grit during live performances.
The process
The Archeology of Sound
Everything begins with discovery, guided by a singular constraint: if a sample is familiar, it is discarded. If a producer I respect has already used it, they likely flipped it better than I could. The goal is entirely untouched territory.
Deconstructing the Fragment
Once the source material is secured, the audio is chopped, flipped, and rearranged purely by feeling. Intuition alone dictates the final composition and tempo.
Cultivating the Groove
My Maschine template is anchored by the distinct textures of STLN DRMS and Ski Beatz sample packs, which are layered with selections from Native Instruments’ Komplete library.
Integrating Vocals
With the groove established, carefully selected vocals are introduced. These elements are woven into the arrangement to deepen the narrative and provide a necessary human element to the instrumental.
The Export
Rather than overcomplicating the final stage with endless, clinical adjustments, the track is exported directly from Maschine.
